Since its inception in 2017, the Chios Music Festival has sought to promote creative coexistence through the universal language of music on this island at the Greek border of the Aegean.

With classical, contemporary, jazz and traditional music concerts, as well as music theatre performances and activities for all ages, it fosters collaboration between professional and amateur musicians, creating interdisciplinary artistic experiences. The Festival’s events take place in iconic locations in Chios, showcasing the island’s cultural and environmental wealth. They are centred around two main events, one taking place in summer and the other in winter. These events keep the public and visitors interested throughout the year, while also highlighting Chios as an attractive cultural destination.

10th #SummerEdition 2026

The Festival’s 10th anniversary summer edition marks a significant milestone in its history. Celebrating the region and its culture alongside its residents, visitors and volunteers, it offers a high-quality, diverse programme featuring international participants.

This year’s #SummerEdition coincides with the centenary of Jani Christou’s birth, the international Greek artist who had a deep connection with Chios. To honour him, the festival organises exhibitions, concerts, and workshops for children and adults, showcasing his work and ideas.

A third anniversary –marking 20 years of artistic activity by the Girls’ Choir of the historic Sing-Akademie zu Berlin– carries a flavour of international collaborations, whilst also focusing attention on young people and the future. The choir, which was founded in 2006, is one of the leading choirs of its kind in Europe. Of its approximately 180 members (girls aged 5 to 20), more than 50 teenagers will be hosted in Chios for one week, collaborating with local choirs as part of the 10th #SummerEdition, supported by the Hellenic-German Youth Foundation (DGJW).

Promotion of the landscape of Chios

The Chios Music Festival breathes through our border island. Its existence and inspiration stem from the landscape of Chios and the places associated with its history and culture. For each event, the organisers carefully select the venue in which it will be hosted, taking into account the type and style of the music programme. Unusual or natural spaces occupy a special place in programming, as their atmosphere and architecture become an integral part of the concert experience.
